Gyrocopter Pilot Training

Based out of Shobden Airfield

Embarking on a journey with Gyrocopter Pilot Training is not just about learning to fly; it's about embracing a unique lifestyle that combines the freedom of the skies with the thrill of piloting. In the UK, our training programme is tailored to transform enthusiasts into adept pilots, capable of navigating the serene and unrestricted airspace with confidence and skill.

Our base in the idyllic Shobdon in Herefordshire is more than a mere training ground. It's a portal to the skies, where the beauty of the countryside meets the expanse of open air, creating the perfect backdrop for learning and exploration. This setting provides an ideal environment for both novices and experienced flyers to enhance their skills in a setting that is as challenging as it is beautiful.

At the heart of our training philosophy is the pursuit of freedom - a freedom that resonates with the joy and liberty of the open roads, now discovered anew in the realm of aviation. Our Gyrocopter Pilot Training encompasses both practical and theoretical aspects, ensuring a well-rounded and comprehensive approach to flying. Our courses are designed not just to educate but to inspire, engaging students in a way that ignites a lifelong passion for flying.

The Flight Information Service at Shobdon, known for its professional and approachable style, complements our training approach. This supportive environment is key to building essential skills in areas such as radio communication, a critical aspect of safe and enjoyable flying. Under the guidance of Tom Galloway, an experienced and dedicated gyroplane instructor and Ground Examiner, students are assured of quality training and personal attention.

Our training programme is meticulously structured, offering a blend of digital and physical learning materials. This includes access to Gyropedia, an extensive online resource with a comprehensive training syllabus, course notes, and flight briefings, supplemented by in-flight video demonstrations. This approach ensures flexibility and depth in learning, catering to diverse learning styles.

The path to obtaining a Private Pilot’s Licence (Gyroplane) with us is customised to each student's learning curve. We adapt our training to suit the pace of your progress, ensuring that each step you take is firm, confident, and enjoyable.
